Global initiative for Resilience and Development, GIRD is non-profit organization established in the year 2016 to replicate and cascade the global agenda of strengthening livelihoods through resilience and development as opposed to the traditional emergency aid delivery in order to the strengthen the capacity of communities to absorb and adapt to cyclic shocks and stresses. Registered as a non- profitable organization in both Kenya and Somalia. In Kenya GIRD operates in the northern region, In Somalia GIRD is registered at federal government and all local state governments and is expected to expand its operations to East and the Horn of Africa and plans to have a global reach in the near future.

With our headquarters in Nairobi, GIRD has offices all over Somalia and Northern Kenya. Our Somalia country office is located in Garowe with operational offices in Baidoa, Hargeisa, and Kismayo.
